Dr. Dewhirst focused her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training on the treatment of more persistent mental health concerns, including personality disorders, bipolar disorders, co-occurring substance use disorders, and behavioral concerns. She has specialized training in the treatment of schizophrenia spectrum disorders and psychosis, and is the author of “The Psychosis Workbook: Understand What You’re Going Through, Take an Active Role in Your Recovery, and Prevent Relapse.”

Dr. Dewhirst strives to approach therapy with curiosity and warmth. She practices within the recovery model of healthcare, meaning she prioritizes collaboration in the therapeutic relationship and emphasizes a holistic approach to mental health. She utilizes the following therapies in session to best help clients reach their goals: Positive/Strengths-Based Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and CBT for Psychosis (CBT-p), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
