Insurance Counseling
If you would like to apply for health insurance coverage, you should speak with one of our Insurance Navigators before your visit with your medical provider. Insurance Navigators can help you with the application process and determine your eligibility for affordable health insurance plans.
You don’t need to be a patient to speak with one of our Insurance Navigators. This is a free service available to anyone by calling 978-937-9700.
To make sure your family stays healthy, Lowell Community Health Center staff can assist you with applying for MassHealth, including the MassHealth Managed Care Plans provided by Boston Medical Center, Celticare, Fallon, Allways, and Tufts, as well as Children’s Medical Security Plan, Marketplace Qualified Health Plans, and the Health Safety Net program.
You will need to bring the following information with you when you meet with an Insurance Navigator:
- Photo ID (driver’s license, passport etc.)
- Latest (latest two weekly pay stubs)
- Proof of income (two weekly pay stubs or one bi-weekly pay stub, income tax forms)
- Proof of Immigration Status (legal permanent resident card, visa, asylum, etc.)
- Proof of Citizenship (a photo ID along with a birth certificate or a passport)
You may qualify for health coverage regardless of your immigration status
Many private insurance plans are also accepted at the Health Center, and the list is growing every day. Among them are major plans such as Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Fallon, Harvard Pilgrim, Allways, and Tufts.
