Health Center Partners with UMass on $1M grant for asthma research
“Asthma can be exacerbated by numerous household triggers, from dust to pests like mice and cockroaches, according to University of Massachusetts Economics Research Professor Dave Turcotte. With a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Turcotte and his team will study how triggers associated with gas stoves can be mitigated for low-income seniors. Through Turcotte’s Healthy Homes Project, UMass Lowell researchers have worked with Lowell Community Health Center to help low-income children and seniors control their asthma.”
