Spanish, Portuguese and Khmer are spoken by many Health Center staff throughout our different locations. LCHC staff are fluent in more than 25 languages. In addition, interpreter services can be arranged for the languages our doctors and medical translators do not speak.

Outpatient Behavioral Health Services offers mental health and substance abuse counseling for individuals, families, and in group settings. Outpatient Behavioral Health Services also offers acupuncture for detoxification and stress reduction purposes.

Inpatient Behavioral Health Services at Lowell Community Health Center (LCHC) provides medically-supervised detoxification, individual counseling, and group counseling for all individuals. Pregnant women and homeless individuals are always a top priority. Treatment services are also provided for dually-diagnosed individuals and relapse prevention programs are available for all clients.

When warranted, LCHC helps clients find placements in long-term care programs following treatment at our Tewksbury State Hospital facility. The Health Center assists patients by providing transportation to all holdings and halfway houses in Massachusetts. Enhanced addiction treatment services are available for those individuals with dual diagnosis issues. For those patients who have a history of acute issues with a psychiatric diagnosis as well as addiction, an LCHC Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner performs detailed assessments upon intake.

LCHC accepts a wide variety of insurance plans including MassHealth, BMC, Neighborhood Health, MBHP, and Network Health. In addition, LCHC offers free care for those who are uninsured. Our 24-bed inpatient facility offers 18 beds reserved for men and 6 beds for women. We are a smoke-free facility and Tewksbury State Hospital does not allow any smoking on the grounds of the facility. Nicotine replacement therapy is offered for patients. Clients also receive education on relapse prevention, hepatitis, HIV, STDs, gambling addiction, and smoking cessation.

We recommend that clients come to us with a clear mind to complete all paperwork during the admission process. No vehicle is allowed to be left on the grounds of the hospital during treatment, and all admissions are responsible for getting transportation to the hospital. Admissions are accepted 24-hours per day, seven days a week.
